Message	bearing clearances are depicted by measuring crank journal then setting dial bore gauge to that dimension. Once the rods have the bearings installed and the rod cap tq'd you can then proceed to check what the oil clearance would be pertaining to that particular rod. Not saying that his Eagle rod is defective but he could rule out all the possibilities by checking all areas I mentioned above.
